Risk assessment for high myopia

Project Introduction

High Myopia (HM) refers to a refractive error state where the degree of myopia is 600 degrees (-6.00D) or above or the axial length is greater than 26.5mm. In Asian countries, the incidence rate of myopia among adolescents over 18 years old is higher than 80%, and the incidence rate of high myopia is 10%~20%. The number of myopia in China is close to 700 million, and the incidence rate of 4801 primary and middle school students in the east of China can reach 90%, and 20% of them are high myopia. The increase in myopia degree will continuously elongate the axial length of the eye, leading to thinning of the retina and choroid, and pathological changes in 90% of the fundus.

Myopia is related to various factors, including genetic factors, environmental factors, and poor eye habits. Research has shown that the vast majority of genetic risk factors for high myopia belong to polygenic complex traits, which are caused by the superposition effect of many susceptible genes and environmental interactions. Moreover, there are significant differences in genetic factors for myopia between Asian and European populations.

Detection range

The "Yinshibao" high myopia susceptibility gene testing in Zhongyin Medicine is a self-developed genetic risk assessment model for high myopia based on years of research accumulation on susceptibility genes for simple high myopia and international research progress. It uses neural network machine learning to comprehensively score the SNP locus detection results of 750000 East Asian individuals in the entire genetic group, and obtain the future risk level of myopia development for the tested individuals, in order to achieve early detection, early warning, and early intervention of high myopia risk. Except for individuals aged 0-6 with myopia above 300 degrees, it is recommended to undergo a single gene inherited eye disease screening and obtain a negative result before accepting this test. Children and adolescents with simple myopia below 600 degrees or normal vision are also recommended to undergo this test.

Patient benefits

Predicting the risk of developing low myopia into high myopia through genetic testing, intervening in advance, and helping children and adolescents develop more precise personalized prevention and control plans to keep myopia at a lower degree. Identify the causes of high myopia, determine hereditary and non hereditary high myopia, and provide guidance for doctors to develop prevention and treatment measures (such as glasses fitting/vision training/corneal reshaping lenses/combined clinical surgery, etc.)

Intended for

Children and adolescents with simple myopia below 600 degrees or normal vision;

Children aged 0-6 with myopia are recommended to undergo a single gene inherited eye disease screening and obtain a negative result before accepting this test.

Product advantages

Early detection and early warning

Accurately predicting the risk of high myopia in children and adolescents by utilizing the innate genetic factors, enabling high-risk populations to receive risk warnings as early as possible, and taking active and effective prevention and intervention measures under the guidance of professional physicians in a timely manner, thereby achieving prevention and control effects.

 More suitable for the Chinese population

The ASA (Asian Screening Array) gene chip was used for detection. The ASA genotyping chip was optimized based on 9000+Asian whole genome sequencing data and contains 750000 loci, including 70000 markers not disclosed in public databases such as South Korea, Mongolia, and Malaysia. The polymorphic loci account for over 80%.
