Drug development
Our drug development focusing on blind-causing retina disease especially those with no drugs available, and leading by professional ophthalmic clinicians, combining genetic testing, clinical diagnosis and pathogenesis, dual-driven by two core technologies of gene replacement and gene editing for the drug design.
Continuously develop various strategies such as gene transcription regulation and protein regulation for gene therapy drug development, design drug through multiple level of genetic central dogma range from DNA to RNA and protein.
The core members of drug research and development have deep background on professional knowledge and rich experience on scientific research, compose a team that integrates ophthalmology, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology and other talents in many fields related to gene therapy. More than 80% of those with master's/doctorate degrees.

R&D pipeline
CHIGENOVO owns abundant of research and development pipelines, covering various genetic retinal diseases.
Target discovery platform
Based on rich clinical experience of ophthalmic diseases and patient big data and large cohorts, mining the common pathogenic genes and mutation sites in patients, and screening for new targets of "zero to one" drug therapy, then designing for gene replacement and gene editing therapeutic drug.
For dominant mutant pathogenic genes, continuous optimizing mature gene editing tools, paralleled by developing gene editing tools with independent intellectual property rights to improve the targeting efficiency and reduce the off-target rate.

Delivery tools
AAV delivery: Screening large-scale AAV capsid libraries to find AAV capsid subtypes with specific tropic for retinal cells to improves the applicability and safety of ophthalmic gene therapy.
Dual AAV delivery: Optimizing dual AAV delivery technology to solve the problem of large gene delivery.
Other delivery: Actively explore novel gene delivery strategies other than AAV, commit to conquering the difficulties of ophthalmic gene therapy, to find and establish better gene delivery technology.
Animal platform
Perfect animal management system, plenty of mouse models, superior ocular administration technology and complete ophthalmic detection instruments ensure the verification of efficacy in animals and effectively promote the process of drug research and development.

Stem cell platform
The mature iPSC reprogramming and ocular organoid differentiation system provide an in vitro model closest mimic the in vivo environment for efficacy evaluation and effectively and rapidly promote drug research and development.
Efficient in vitro multi-eye 3D organoid induction methods, actively explore the ophthalmic cell therapy strategy.
